-Pursuit in the Silence -
There are many times we go through seasons when we hear nothing but silence. The world is constantly moving and so is everyone in it, the distractions around us are endless. A lot of the time these distractions can keep us from hearing the voice of God, but there are also times when He is trusting us in the silence. I have been through this many times and I feel this is the season I am currently in, and I must say it is hard to understand. I either blame myself for not hearing Him speak to me or I blame the world for drowning out His voice. But I often forget that maybe, He trusts me in the silence to keep pursuing Him, and believe that He is working in my life right now. Believing in this is not always easy, it takes a lot of faith.
It is easy to distract ourselves and miss God speaking to us. That is why we need to take the time to silence the world around us, go into a quiet room or out in nature and just listen for His voice. This is something I have to make an effort to do every day, because the truth is, it doesn’t come naturally. We have to choose to seek Christ every day, it is a daily commitment.
Some of the hardest times in my life have challenged me to seek God desperately because I knew if I didn’t, I wouldn’t make it through the day. I knew that without Him, I would be lost. To be honest, I find it is easier to spend time with God in those hard and difficult seasons rather than when everything seems to be going right. But it is in those moments when everything is going right, we see how much we choose to pursue God and His plan for our life. How many times do we forget to pray and talk to God when we think everything in our life seems good? We call on God when we need Him, but the truth is we need Him every second of every day. Not just when things are difficult, we need God in the good seasons and the hard ones. He is the one who directs our steps, and if we are not constantly seeking Him every day, then how will we know which way to go or which path to take?
Times of silence can be very hard to understand, but if I have learned one thing, it is that in those times of silence I must have faith that even though I cannot always see Him or hear His voice, I know He is working in my life because I have surrendered my life to Him and His perfect plan for me. I can rest in these moments of silence knowing that I am His and I can trust Him with my life. I am never alone, and neither are you!
If you are in a season of silence let me encourage you. Keep seeking Christ, don’t give up, He is with you. Even though you may feel alone in the silence, He is right there with you, trust Him, He is working in your life right now.
